Tudor MT5612 Self-Winding Mechanical Movement

The first Tudor movement certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), the MT5612 self-winding mechanical movement powers their premier diver’s watch, the Pelagos. With a total diameter of 31.8mm and a thickness of 6.5mm, this movement features a bidirectional rotor that offers a power reserve of 70 hours. This allows the wearer to set the timepiece down for the weekend without the need to adjust the time when putting it back on Monday morning.

The functions of the MT5612 include center hour, minute and seconds hands with an instantaneous date shown through an aperture at 3 o’clock. It also features stop seconds for precise time setting. 26 rubies help this caliber maintain a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour. Its variable inertia oscillator is equipped with a silicon balance spring which is held together by a traversing bridge that protects it from shocks and vibrations.

This movement has helped the Pelagos model become a highly sought after diver’s watch. With a depth rating of 500 meters and a brushed case made from titanium and steel, it offers divers a robust tool watch at a modest price.
